PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT ...starts with being Environmentally Aware

As a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center, Patriot Scuba is committed to supporting the Project AWARE Foundation.  PADI started the AWARE philosophy in 1989 to mobilize divers around the world in preserving our oceans and marine habitats.  While the Foundation maintains an important partnership with PADI, it is a separate nonprofit organization that raises its own funds and drives its own mission and goals.

Today, Project AWARE focuses its efforts on two critical issues facing our ocean planet: Sharks in Peril and Marine Debris.  As scuba divers we are uniquely positioned to directly and positively effect real, long-term change in these two areas.

Patriot Scuba is a PADI Green Star Award Dive Center

The PADI Green Star Award was established to recognize dive centers and resorts around the world that are committed to taking action to protect the environment. This award  requires specific actions across a range of categories including energy use, optimized waste management, and conservation leadership. By participating in the program, we have reaffirmed our commitment to preserving the environment and actively identifying ways to improve the local habitat on land and underwater. As of the end of 2013, we are one of only two dive centers within 100 miles of Northern Virginia to have achieved this milestone.

Combined with our participation in the 100% AWARE program, in which we make a donation to the Project AWARE Foundation for every student trained, the PADI Green Star Award marks the next step in demonstrating leadership in environmental conservation. Customers can rest assured that in addition to providing world-class dive training and equipment, Patriot Scuba is an active steward of the precious environment we love to explore and share with others.
